Are You the First Partaker? Why You Should Wear, Use, and Believe in What You Create

We create.
We produce.
We pour our hearts into designing products, writing content, offering services, and building brands.

But here’s the truth: many of us stop short.
We don’t wear the shirt.
We don’t carry the bag.
We don’t use the journal, the mug, or the digital product we so proudly list in our shop.

We show up on livestreams and Zoom calls wearing someone else’s brand.
We post inspiring words without ever linking to our own offerings.
We ask others to buy—but haven’t even convinced ourselves it's good enough to use.

Let’s talk about that.

Scripture: 2 Timothy 2:6 And hardworking farmers [creatives, entrepreneurs, ministry leaders] should be the first to enjoy the fruit of their labor. New Living Translation (brackets added for emphasis)

The Message Behind Our Silence

When we don’t show up as the first partaker of our work, the unspoken message is loud and clear:

  • “It’s not good enough.”
  • “I don’t really believe in this.”
  • “I made it for other people, but I’m not ready to stand by it.”

And whether we realize it or not, our audience picks up on that energy.
Why would they rush to support something we won’t wear or promote with pride?

We must become our own best brand ambassadors.

What’s Stopping You?

Let’s be real. There are reasons this happens:

  • Perfectionism – “It’s not quite done. I’ll wear it later when it’s better.”
  • Fear of judgment – “What if people think I’m doing too much?”
  • Imposter syndrome – “Who am I to be selling this anyway?”
  • Disconnection – “I made this, but I’m already on to the next thing.”

But here’s the truth: every time you hide your own work, you’re reinforcing a narrative that it doesn’t matter. That YOU don’t believe in it.

Let’s Flip the Script

What if we started showing up differently?

  • Wearing the earrings we designed.
  • Drinking from the mug we made.
  • Using our planners during meetings.
  • Holding up our journals during livestreams.
  • Creating QR codes or simple offers to collect emails while we’re LIVE.
  • Actually using our own tools and talking about how they’re helping us.

It’s not about being salesy. It’s about being aligned. If you believe in what you’ve created, let people see that belief in action.

Your Brand Needs You to Show Up for It

Your brand is waiting for YOU to go first.

Don’t ask others to invest in what you won’t even touch.
Be the first customer. The first testimonial. The loudest cheerleader.
And yes—email your people. Build that list. Talk about what’s new.
(Don’t just rely on social media—but we’ll dive into that next time.)

Final Thought: You are the First Fruit

In faith, the first fruits are sacred—they’re the offering that shows gratitude and belief in the harvest to come.

You are the first fruit of your business.
Wear it. Use it. Share it.
And in doing so, invite others to believe too.
